Union Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy Inspects Railway Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet
Kazipet, 29 November 2025:Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal and Mines, visited the Railway Manufacturing Unit (RMU) at Kazipet today. He was accompanied by senior officials and public representatives, including Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway; Shri Bijay Kumar Rath, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer; Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division; Shri P.V. Saiprasad, Chief Project Manager, RVNL; and Shri A. Sridhar, Chief Public Relations Officer, SCR.
The Minister inspected the ongoing construction works at the RMU and reviewed project progress and safety measures at the site. He noted that the long-standing aspiration of the people of Telangana is now moving swiftly towards completion.
Speaking to the media, Shri Kishan Reddy recalled that the foundation stone for the RMU was laid by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2023. He highlighted that Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is executing the project at an estimated cost of ₹521 crore and that 75% of the works have already been completed. The project is expected to be fully completed next year.The RMU will house key facilities such as the Main Shop, Test Shop, Paint Shop, Store Ward, Administrative Block, Rest House, Canteen, security structures, toilet blocks, boundary wall, Road Under Bridge (RUB), internal railway track network, approach roads, and an electric substation. Sustainability features including a 1 MWp rooftop solar plant, natural ventilation and day lighting, LED lighting, sewage treatment and wastewater recycling systems, and rainwater harvesting structures are also being incorporated.The Minister stated that the unit is designed to manufacture 16-coach MEMU rakes, equipped with the latest manufacturing technology. He added that the RMU will open avenues for both direct and indirect employment for youth in the region.
He further remarked that under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Telangana is witnessing unprecedented railway infrastructure growth ranging from Vande Bharat trains and station redevelopment to electrification, new services, and advanced safety systems like KAVACH.Earlier in the day, the Minister also inspected Warangal Railway Station, reviewing passenger amenities and ongoing works aimed at improving overall passenger experience.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava delivered the welcome address, and Shri P.V. Saiprasad briefed the media on the project highlights.
