Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway (SCR), conducted a surprise night inspection of the Ghatkesar–Bibinagar section during the intervening night of December 26–27, 2025, to review safety arrangements at critical locations.As part of the inspection, the General Manager inspected Level Crossing Gate Nos. 17 and 20E and also checked the working of the Night Patrolman (Trackman) on duty. He was accompanied by Dr. Gopala Krishnan, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, along with senior railway officers.
During the inspection, Shri Srivastava interacted with the gatemen, reviewed the gate operation system, functioning of gate booms, safety equipment, and maintenance records. He also assessed the gatemen’s knowledge of safety rules, signaling procedures, and coordination with Station Masters for safe train and road traffic movement.The General Manager later interacted with the Night Patrolman, discussed duties, challenges faced during night patrolling, and checked the safety equipment being carried. He enquired about emergency procedures and precautions taken to prevent accidents, especially during night hours.Night patrolling by trackmen plays a crucial role in railway safety, involving continuous inspection of tracks, bridges, tunnels, and vulnerable points between 10 PM and 6 AM, to detect fractures, washouts, or any sabotage and alert train crews in time.Impressed with the alertness, discipline, and dedication of the gateman and patrolman, Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava announced cash awards to both staff members for their commitment to ensuring the safe running of trains.
