All Firecracker Shops in the District to Undergo Thorough Inspection; SDOs of Chas and Bermo Directed
With the approaching Diwali festival, Deputy Commissioner Shri Ajay Nath Jha has issued directives to the Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) of Chas and Bermo (Tenughat) to conduct a thorough inspection of all firecracker shops operating in the district. The focus is to ensure that no shop operates without a valid license issued by the competent authority.
During the inspection, shops found operating without a valid license or selling firecrackers in residential/populated areas will face strict legal action in accordance with the law.
Lessons Learned from Past Incidents
In 2024, during Diwali, a massive fire broke out at firecracker shops near Garga Bridge in B.S. City, resulting in significant property damage.
Additionally, as per a letter from the Home, Prison, and Disaster Management Department, Government of Jharkhand, dated March 10, 2025, a tragic fire incident occurred at a firecracker shop in Godarmana, Ranka Block, Garhwa district, claiming the lives of five individuals, including three children. The investigation revealed that the shop was operating illegally without a license.
Keeping these incidents in mind, the Deputy Commissioner of Bokaro emphasized that preventing such accidents is a top priority for the administration.
