Security Tightened Along Jammu–Srinagar NH-44 Ahead of Home Minister’s J&K Visit

Qazigund, Feb 5: Security arrangements were significantly strengthened along the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), particularly in and around the Navyug Tunnel area of Qazigund, ahead of the visit of the Union Home Minister to Jammu and Kashmir.As per news agency Kashmir News Corner (KNC), the intensified security measures are being carried out under the direct supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police (NHW) Qazigund, Mumtaz Ali Bhatti, who is personally monitoring the situation on the ground.
The security deployment is being led by the SDPO Qazigund, SHO Qazigund, and DO Navyug Tunnel, with additional police and security personnel positioned at strategic locations along the highway to ensure smooth, secure, and uninterrupted movement.In addition to manpower deployment, police have also pressed advanced surveillance technology into service. This includes the installation of Wall Radar systems and thermal screening equipment at the Navyug Tunnel, aimed at enhancing real-time monitoring and threat detection capabilities.
The heightened security exercise is being implemented in compliance with the directions of SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhury (IPS), officials said.
Authorities described the measures as purely precautionary, stating that the objective is to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of commuters and VIP movement during the high-profile visit. (KNC)
