Ramagundam: Significant steps are being made towards establishing the proposed airport at Anthergaon mandal. A team from the Airports Authority of India (AAI), which arrived from Delhi, inspected the proposed site on Thursday. On this occasion, Ramagundam MLA M.S. Raj Thakur (Makkan Singh) met the officials at Jyothi Bhavan and conducted a review meeting.

The officials inspected the 977-acre proposed site at Anthergaon mandal headquarters, along with the surrounding areas of the Ellampalli Godavari river, and the Spinning & Weaving Mill premises. They initially opined that the location appears suitable for establishing an airport. They informed that the feasibility report work is progressing rapidly and that the final report will soon be submitted to the Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Raj Thakur said, “We have already held reviews on the Anthergaon Airport proposal with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and ministers. Geographically, this region is highly suitable for airport development. It will become a major gateway for Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Mancherial and Adilabad districts. It will significantly boost industries, employment opportunities and investments,” he stated.

Later, the AAI team held a meeting at NTPC Jyothi Bhavan in Ramagundam and reviewed all related aspects.

Participants: Peddapalli RDO Gangayya, Anthergaon Tahsildar Tomu Ravinder Patel, officials from Mines, Transco, Electricity, Irrigation, Ground Water, NTPC, Singareni, Buildings, Planning, Police and other mandal-level departments.
